MPD Military Recruiting Program
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police department takes great pride in supporting our brave men and women who serve and sacrifice for our country. Many of the values and attributes military members exhibit are what we look for to represent our department. We are a strong advocate of hiring veterans and provide veterans with opportunities to join our ranks with our base testing program. Eligible participants in this program do not need to apply through the normal process.
The CMPD Military Recruitment program has three advantages that we are proud to provide to those that served.
The Military Base Testing program is available to military members in the following categories;
Active Duty military
Retired (with 20 years or more) military service
You must show your military ID to test!
Those that take and pass the written test under the Military Base Testing program have an extended submission time for their background packet.
The CMPD Academy is a certified VA Vocational Institute. This allows veterans to apply for benefits through the VA to augment their base salary while in training.

We find ways to engage the community in taking steps that help minimize opportunities for victimization. We explore appropriate policy direction with the Mayor and City Council. We seek solutions to the complex community problems that contribute to crime and disorder. And we enforce the laws and arrest the people who break them.
The officers, staff and volunteers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department take very seriously their duty to provide citizens with professional, innovative and effective service. Community safety is a shared responsibility and we are committed to working in partnership with neighborhood residents and business owners as well as other local, state and federal agencies to reduce crime and increase safety.
