As the Transportation Operations Manager, you will manage the daily activities and performance for a specified facility, including the fleet of drivers, to achieve company and customer expectations. You will manage operations reports to manage customer service, volume, and equipment balance and revenue metrics. What you’ll do on a typical day: • Oversee the daily activities of all transportation functions, including labor management, freight optimization, equipment allocation, and maintenance and safety; manage dispatcher, supervisor and driver relationships and assist dispatchers with any issues that arise • Assume responsibility for customer satisfaction by proactively communicating with customers to discuss performance and develop plans • Oversee the coordination and dispatch of drivers to appropriate locations • Provide leadership and development to the operational team; train and evaluate employee’s performance, recommend or initiate hiring, promotions, transfers, or disciplinary process • Assist in developing and maintaining the operational budget • Safely and efficiently handles incidents and collisions according to established standards What you need to succeed at XPO: At a minimum, you’ll need: • High school diploma or equivalent • 2 years of managerial experience in supply chain/logistics environment and two or more years of supervisory experience • Excellent negotiation skills to deal effectively with individuals and groups within and outside the organization • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) It’d be great if you also have: • Bachelor’s degree • 4 or more years of experience in supply chain/logistics environment and 3 or more years of supervisory experience • Advanced knowledge of DOT rules and regulations Be part of something big.
